Snapchat Launches Three New Features and Gift Subscriptions

Snapchat, the popular social media platform known for its ephemeral messaging and unique filters, has announced three new features to its paid subscription service: Snapchat Plus.

Snapchat+ subscribers can now personalize the app’s appearance and feel by customizing the application icons, camera capture buttons, and more. For example, users can adjust the shape or color of the camera capture button to be a soccer ball or heart.

While it serves no purpose in terms of functionality, it gives you more ways to personalize your Snapchat experience, which is the main benefit of the entire Snapchat+ program.

Subscribers can also add a personalized background to their chats with the new Chat Background tool. Chat backgrounds were perhaps popularized by Metas WhatsApp, which has had this function for quite some time.

Subscribers to Snapchat+ can now choose a picture from their camera roll or one of the app’s default wallpapers as their chat background.

With the update, users can choose whether Snaps on their Stories should expire within hours, days, or weeks.

The third new feature is the ability to use Chat wallpaper to change the wallpaper theme of your chat rooms. Finally, with the new “Gift” option, members may send a Snapchat+ subscription to loved ones and friends for the holidays.

For $39.99, you can gift a buddy a 12-month subscription to Snapchat+. This feature’s launch was announced by Snapchat back in October, so it shouldn’t be a surprise.

Snapchat’s paid services have been available since last June, with various unique features. In October, instead of 24 hours, the network allowed users to select various time intervals for Snapchat Stories to expire.

It also offered subscribers various custom notification sounds.

Improvements in Snapchat

Snapchat+ enables you to see who’s seen your story, as well as a special badge and the opportunity to pin a person as your #1 friend. The subscription offers the option to “see the general direction of travel where friends have recently moved.”

While these aren’t groundbreaking additions, it was reported that Snapchat+ contributed over $5 million in revenue to the app in its first month of release.

Since then, Snapchat has constantly been looking for ways to improve the user experience, and these new customization options and giftable subscriptions are just the latest examples.

The update is available now for all users and is sure to be a hit with Snapchat’s loyal fan base.
